Pastor A. Kemnitzer

A village by and large

A pastoral Nouthesia for the 21st century

434 pages, bound

A Village by and large is the posthumously published edition of a pastoral Nouthesia for the 21st century. The author was pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Woringen im Allgäu for over 25 years. It tells the story of the village of Woringen from the first traces of settlement up to the end of the 20th century. The great historical arc relates world and local events in an original way. The parish archive of the parish inspired the author, who lived with the people in the village for so long, to create more than a chronicle, a home and house book. As the editors explain in the scientific editorial, "A village by and large" is a pastoral relecture of Pauline and Deuteropauline Paränese, which aims to encourage the reader's reason and understanding to think about the passage of time, both large and small, carefully and in the process but urgently - like the sound of the bell from the church tower - calls to life in love. This is worth reading not only for the local people, but also for all those interested in church history, mentality history, pastoral theology, pastoral care and philosophy.
